 Given the complexity of the subject of urban regeneration, we have selected a number of case studies mainly related to urban hydrologic rehabilitation in Spain and the United Kingdom. After showing a first case of more comprehensive study, the intention of the rest is to show different construction techniques that minimize the problems of flooding and diffuse pollution.

Module 5. Sustainable Urban Rehabilitation - Rehabilitación Urbana Sostenible.

In this fifth module of the course we want to emphasize sustainable urban renewal and urban regeneration as a major opportunity to implement all the issues discussed above in relation to sustainable construction. In section 5.1. we analyze the importance of cities as the main focus of human activity and therefore construction, reviewing some of the latest models of development in which it is currently working. Later, in section 5.2, we will focus on developing the concept of urban regeneration, highlighting its key features and after this, discussing in an interview the key related challenges for the future. Finally, in section 5.3. we emphasize the importance of building in a sustainable way to better manage rainwater in cities, thus adapting to climate change.
The notes associated with each part are available in both languages on the link under the video in the sections of theory and also in the section of study cases. In these notes, in presentation format, the information presented in the videos is enlarged with the intention of guiding complete this introduction to the very complex subject of urban regeneration.

En este quinto módulo del curso queremos destacar la rehabilitación urbana sostenible o regeneración urbana como la principal oportunidad para poner en práctica todos los temas tratados anteriormente en relación con la construcción sostenible. En la sección 5.1. analizamos la importancia de las ciudades como principal foco de la actividad humana y por tanto de la construcción, repasando algunos de los últimos modelos de desarrollo en los que se está trabajando actualmente. Posteriormente, en el apartado 5.2, nos centraremos en el desarrollo del concepto de regeneración urbana, destacando sus principales características y discutiendo posteriormente en una entrevista los principales retos asociados. Por último, en la sección 5.3. destacamos la importancia que tiene construir de forma sostenible para gestionar mejor el agua de lluvia en las ciudades, logrando así adaptarnos al Cambio Climático.
Los apuntes asociados a cada parte están disponibles en ambos idiomas en el enlace situado bajo los videos de teoría y en el apartado de casos prácticos. En estos apuntes con formato presentación se amplía la información presentada en los videos con la intención de orientar esta introducción al complejo tema de la regeneración urbana.

P2P task - tarea4

As you surely know, the energy performance certificate (EPC) is an initiative of the European Parliament in the form of a document that is mainly aimed to define and inform on the energy performance of a building. This document is recognized by each EU Member State and, as you may also know, according to the Directive 2010/31/EU, Member States are encouraged to employ the voluntary common EU scheme adopted by the Commission or to adapt it to national particularities.
In this sense, you are requested to provide as much information as you can about the energy performance certificate issued in your own country. With a length of at least 500 words, the following contents should be provided:
·        Regulatory framework and important dates such as the date of publication of the national rule/law or the date when the certificate enters in force.
·        Specificities as compared to the general features referred in the corresponding directives.
·        Implementation proceedings.
·        Brief personal opinion about this topic.
In case the specific energy performance certificate has not been issued in your country yet, you are requested to find the information that justify the situation, including the prospects and dates regarding future issuance. In addition, you are also requested to express your opinion about this topic.    
Finally, in case you are from a non-EU country, you are requested to provide as much information as possible about the policies and measures that your country is taking to improve the energy efficiency in general and in the construction sector in particular. If possible, you should compare them with those in the EU. You are also requested to give your opinion about this topic.

Como seguramente ya sabrás, el certificado energético es una propuesta del Parlamento Europeo en forma de documento cuyo objetivo principal es definir e informar acerca del rendimiento energético de un edificio. Este documento está reconocido en cada Estado Miembro de la UE y, como también probablemente sepas, desde la Directiva 2010/31/EU se anima a dichos Estados Miembros a utilizar el sistema común voluntario de certificación de la UE adoptado por la Comisión, o bien a adaptarlo a las particularidades nacionales que correspondan.
En este sentido, deberás aportar tanta información como te sea posible respecto al certificado de eficiencia energética expedido en tu propio país. Con una extensión de al menos 500 palabras, el documento debería incluir, entre otras cosas:
·        Marco regulatorio y fechas importantes como la de publicación de la ley nacional correspondiente o la de su entrada en vigor.
·        Particularidades del certificado respecto a las características más generales referidas en la directiva correspondiente.
·        Procedimiento de implementación.
·        Breve opinión personal del tema. 
En el caso de que el certificado de eficiencia energética no haya sido implementado en tu país todavía, habrás de buscar y presentar toda información posible que justifique esta situación, incluyendo perspectivas y fechas de su futura expedición. Además, deberás dar tu opinión personal a todo este respecto.
Finalmente, en el caso de que vivas en un país no perteneciente a la Unión Europea, deberás encontrar toda la información que te sea posible respecto a las políticas y medidas que tu país está tomando para mejorar la eficiencia energética en general, y la del sector de la construcción en particular. Si es posible, habrás de compararlas con las tomadas por la UE. Deberás también expresar brevemente tu opinión sobre el tema.

P2P task - tarea 5

This P2P activity has three parts and you must perform the first two to terminate the activity:
1. Analyze an example of urban regeneration you choose (if you do not know what to choose, you can take one from the case studies) and post your comments using the following structure (you can attach an additional file if you wish):
• Indicate the reason for your choice and the link where you got the information.
• Summarize in three lines the main principles of the action.
• Make a critical comment for or against it.
2. Review the exercises, contributing with your opinion to each item and using the following criteria:
• Appropriate choice and source of information (2 points out of 10).
• Good summary, capturing the main ideas (4 of 10).
• Reasoned and consistent critical comment (4 of 10).
3. Read the corrections of your work, valuing the constructive contributions.

Esta actividad P2P tiene tres partes de las cuales debes realizar las dos primeras para poder dar por finalizada la actividad:

Module 4. Energy Efficiency and Environmental Certification in Construction.

In this fourth module, the contribution of energy to the concept of sustainability in construction as well as the environmental certification of buildings and public works will be introduced. Section 4.1 will deal with the importance of energy, defining what an energy crisis is, and will introduce its main causes and consequences. Section 4.2 will present the concept of energy efficiency  and the main strategies adopted by the EU for its dissemination will be revised. Finally, Section 4.3 will take care of environmental certification and will briefly introduce other current elements for the environmental protection.
The module notes are available both in English and Spanish in the link placed under the videos of the theory sessions. In those notes, with a presentation format, there is enlarged information of what is shortly presented in the corresponding video sessions. This reading is therefore strongly recommended.

En este cuarto módulo del curso se introducirá la aportación de la energía al concepto de sostenibilidad en la construcción así como la certificación ambiental de edificios y obras públicas. En la sección 4.1 se abordará la importancia de la energía, se definirá la noción de crisis energética y se introducirán sus principales causas y consecuencias. En la sección 4.2 se introducirá el concepto de Eficiencia Energética y se revisarán las principales iniciativas llevadas a cabo por la Unión Europea para su propagación.
