Module 4. Energy Efficiency and Environmental Certification in Construction.
In this fourth module, the contribution of energy to the concept of sustainability in construction as well as the environmental certification of buildings and public works will be introduced. Section 4.1 will deal with the importance of energy, defining what an energy crisis is, and will introduce its main causes and consequences. Section 4.2 will present the concept of energy efficiency and the main strategies adopted by the EU for its dissemination will be revised. Finally, Section 4.3 will take care of environmental certification and will briefly introduce other current elements for the environmental protection.

In those notes, with a presentation format, there is enlarged information of what is shortly presented in the corresponding video sessions. This reading is therefore strongly recommended.

En este cuarto módulo del curso se introducirá la aportación de la
energía al concepto de sostenibilidad en la construcción así como la certificación ambiental de edificios y obras públicas. En la sección 4.1 se abordará la importancia de la energía, se definirá la noción de crisis energética y se introducirán sus principales causas y consecuencias. En la sección 4.2 se introducirá el concepto de Eficiencia Energética y se revisarán las principales iniciativas llevadas a cabo por la Unión Europea para su propagación. Por último, en la sección 4.3 abordaremos la certificación ambiental e introduciremos muy brevemente otros elementos de actualidad para la protección medioambiental.
